2015 CSR initiatives

2015 was a committed year for Soneri, with diversified CSR activities in the realm of healthcare, communities, women empowerment, youth, education and arts & culture that reflected our ethos for “Roshan Har Qadam.”

Soneri Bank is committed to playing a strong role towards healthcare, striving to uplift the social dynamics of the country by facilitating the development plans of various healthcare institutions.

Patients’ Aid Foundation

In order to support JPMC (Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre), a group of concerned citizens formed an NGO (Non-Profit Organization) in 1990 named as Patients’ Aid Foundation (PAF). PAF, in collaboration with JPMC, is engaged in many patient welfare activities and has funded massive infrastructure and equipment projects such as the Cyberknife Machine, the Blood Bank and the Accident and Emergency facilities. Soneri Bank was an active participant in the annual fundraiser event of 2015.

NICU & PICU Unit at Agha Khan University Hospital (AKUH)

The AKUH provides quality and comprehensive medical care in Pakistan. Soneri Bank has committed to support the 3-year expansion plan of the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at AKUH. All facilities and treatments are made accessible irrespective of financial status. With this philanthropic approach, Soneri Bank aims to play a role in uplifting the socio-economic dynamics of the country by facilitating the expansion plans of this institution.

The Kidney Centre

The Kidney Centre provides free renal impairment treatments to needy patients’. Soneri Bank has supported this cause by contributing towards its fundraising event of 2015.

Lady Dufferin Hospital

Lady Dufferin is a renowned hospital that provides quality medical care facilities to women at subsidized rates. Soneri Bank continued to support this cause by making contributions to the annual fundraiser event of 2015.

Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre (MALC)

MALC is a non-profit organization providing free tuberculosis and blindness treatments to needy patients’. Soneri Bank continued to support MALC via contributing to the annual fundraiser event of 2015.



LRBT is the largest provider of free eye care for the poor in the country and a safety net for the visually impaired population in Pakistan. In order to further endorse the efforts of the institute, Soneri Bank contributed its due share through its digital campaign #PledgeForKindness, whereby the funds were donated to LRBT.


Children First Society

Children First Society is a non-profit organisation working for the ailing children by providing free treatment, medical supplies, machines and equipment. Various initiatives of cleanliness and hygiene have also been taken for the betterment of their patients. The Children First Society’s child development services help children to achieve a healthy life to become healthy adults. Soneri Bank supported the cause by participating in their fundraiser event.


National Institute of Child Health (NICH) – OAKS

OAKS is the alumni association of Kinnaird College for Women. Both OAKS and NICH have a long standing relationship, in which funds have been raised for lifesaving medical equipment for the hospital, which include ventilators, incubators and special thalassemia testing machinery.
Soneri Bank supported this cause by participating in the event’s fundraiser brochure.


Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre

Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre is a cancer centre, serving the people of Pakistan for many years. It is the very first project of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, a charitable organisation working towards the fight against Cancer, since its inception.
Soneri Bank played its part in supporting this organisation monatarily, as well as by contribution through digital campaign #PledgeForKindness


The Sindh Institute of Urology & Transplantation – SIUT

The Sindh Institute of Urology & Transplantation is a dialysis & kidney transplant centre located in Sindh. SIUT was founded by Dr. Adibul Hasan Rizvi and it is Pakistan’s largest kidney disease centre, as well as Pakistan’s largest public sector health organisation. Soneri Bank supported
this cause through its digital campaign #PledgeForKindness, whereby funds were donated to the organisation.


The Indus Hospitals (TIHs)

The Indus Hospitals are tertiary care multidisciplinary hospitals and healthcare system in Pakistan. The unique feature of the hospital is that it is privately run, but offers services completely free of charge. It is the first ever paperless hospital established in Pakistan. Soneri Bank, through its digital campaign #PledgeForKindness contributed towards this organisation for the betterment of society.


Friends of Pink Ribbon Pakistan – United Against Breast Cancer

Pink Ribbon Pakistan – a project of Women’s Empowerment Group is a non-funded, self-sustained campaign, mostly supported by contributions through public philanthropy and driven by a large number of volunteers all over the country. The mission of Pink Ribbon Pakistan is to develop Pakistan’s first dedicated breast cancer hospital with state-of-the-art medical equipment, in order to fulfil the dire need of approximately 9.8 million women who are at a risk of developing breast cancer, in Pakistan. Soneri Bank pledged to this cause by contribution in the annual fundraiser event.

Soneri Bank has strived to spread literacy to the underprivileged youth of our society, through its involvement with educational initiatives.

Citizens Archive of Pakistan (CAP)

CAP is a non-profit organization dedicated to cultural and historic preservation, aimed at educating the community and creating awareness about our nation’s history. In this context, they build and support educational programmes and develop educational product-based testimonies. To support CAP in achieving its mission, Soneri Bank extended its support by providing sponsorship for the fundraiser carnival in 2015.

SOS Children’s Villages Pakistan

SOS is a non-profit organization working towards the welfare of children deprived of their families. SOS’ team is working on providing shelters, higher education and job trainings to orphaned children which allows them to live a normal life. Soneri Bank supported this cause by contributing in the fundraiser event, “A tribute to the legends” in 2015.

Staying true to its vision of empowering people by assisting them with rehabilitation efforts, Soneri Bank has been involved with events that seek to empower vulnerable segments of our society.

Saving Thar – Old Associates of Kinnaird Society (OAKS)

In 2015, Soneri Bank sponsored a dug-well in a rural village, Mithrio Rojh, located in the surroundings of sub-district Chachro of Tharparkar as part of the “Saving Thar” project implemented by OAKS Karachi Chapter (Alumni Association of Kinnaird College of Women Lahore), in collaboration with Hisaar Foundation. The dug-well serves 120 households of approximately 900 people and 2000 animals. This dug-well, having a durability of 50 years, would salvage the state of drought in this volatile area of Pakistan.


Soneri Bank, as an organization, strongly believes in the value of equality in all facets of its business – especially gender equality. It gives high regard to working women and provides all of its employees with the provision of equal opportunity and leadership trust, because it believes that leadership is not gender specific. Here are some of the initiatives Soneri has been actively involved in to empower women to become future innovators and leaders.

International Women Leaders’ Summit

Soneri Bank was part of International Women Leaders’ Summit in 2015, a professional forum to collate successful and diversified professional women leaders across the globe to impart and integrate their experiences at a local forum for an exchange of broader perspectives and learnings.

Thar – Girl Child

With the objective to encourage the social welfare of the untapped areas of Pakistan and create a supportive forum for women empowerment, Soneri Bank disseminated a cause-related season’s greetings card of 2016 with a Thar – Girl Child.

Soneri Bank honours the national inheritance of arts and culture in Pakistan, deeming it as an integral part of Pakistan’s identity. Thus, it has strived to promote and revive South Asian music.

TARZ Music Album

TARZ group is an ensemble of master musicians from Pakistan that are reformulating the South Asian Music platform. “The Essence of South Asia,” a music CD sponsored by Soneri Bank is a musical experience weaving the sounds and accents of South Asian Music in a unique orchestration. Soneri Bank paid tribute to Pakistani musical inheritance for the future generation as an integral part of our South Asian identity. This was officially launched and promoted at a live TARZ musical event in 2015.

Karachi Golf Club

In an effort to provide a forum for re-creational sports activities for corporate clientele and staff, Soneri Bank, in collaboration with Karachi Golf Club, sponsored Karachi Basant Scramble and Golf Tournament 2015.
